ABCMI's Annual Membership
Expires December 31, 2023 - Please renew today & THANK YOU to those who have already done so!
ABCMI is made possible by YOU! That’s right. The Association of British Columbia Marine Industries (ABCMI) is made possible by the wide variety of industry members that contribute to BC’s marine industry.
Did you know that this year, as an Association:
- We experienced the largest turnout at our Business Opportunities Conference & Trade Show, with over 300 people in attendance.
- We were the recipients of being the official provider of the BC Maritime Industries Infrastructure Modernization and Expansion Grant Program, which will expand and strengthen the boat, shipbuilding and repair infrastructures for environmentally sustainable solutions in BC.
- We increased career pathway connections for enhancing BC’s marine industry job market gaps.
We might be a small team, but we have incredible members who make our association possible. None of our accomplishments can be done without your membership, your participation and advocacy. This is why your presence as a member is truly valuable.
Time is ticking!! Today is the day. Renew your membership before December 31 by visiting our website or reach out to Elias MacDonald directly at Elias@abcmi.ca or 778-430-2264 ext. 3.

Labour Market Research: BC Commercial Fishing Sector Survey
Survey closing soon
ABCMI is working with the BC Commercial Fishing Association (BCCFA) and the primary researchers at R.A. Malatest & Associates Ltd. (Malatest) to support an innovative labour market report that examines the key human resource issues facing the fishing sector, and the interaction of these issues with marine trades and blue economy HR needs. A survey of employers in both BC’s Commercial Fishing sector as well as in the greater Marine & Blue Economy in BC will launch in September 2023. The goal of this work is to better understand the sectors’ labour needs, the impacts of new technologies, skills requirements, training in digital skills for employees, document innovative approaches, as well as to identify transferable skills and seasonality in related sectors of the Marine & Blue Economy.
ABCMI members are invited to complete the survey on behalf of Marine & Blue Economy employers. By outlining labour market issues facing Blue Economy employers in BC, linkages could emerge with the BC Commercial Fishing sector and common strategies may be implemented to address current and future labour needs of British Columbia’s greater marine industry.
