About ARKTOS Developments Ltd.

ARKTOS Developments Ltd. is a well-established Canadian owned SME based in Surrey BC, Canada.  For over 30 years our company has been designing and manufacturing amphibious ARKTOS Craft for the oil and gas sector for operations in the Arctic and elsewhere for Offshore Platforms providing safe evacuation in ice conditions and severe cold temperatures or for the threat of H2S gas.  Unique in the world, this technology is a 'boat that can go on land versus a land vehicle that floats.'  An exporting company, as the majority of the sales are international sales.

Our company offers after-sales service and training at our customer’s location, custom design and engineering expertise to meet a customer’s specific requirements, and sub-contract work, including resin-infusion expertise at our facility.

About our Products:

1. Amphibious ARKTOS Craft

The unparalleled capability of climbing from deep water up onto ice, transiting steep slopes and vertical steps (multiyear ice-floes, rough shorelines), to operate in deep mud, muskeg, quicksand and uneven ground/variable water depths without getting stuck sets this technology apart from any other standard equipment, allowing access into areas otherwise inaccessible while having additional protection from the harsh environment as well as from polar bears, as personnel are safe inside the Craft.

With additional safety features and redundancy built into the design of the Craft for Arctic operations, as well as the ability to tow in water and ice (barges/life rafts/disabled boats) and operate in rough seas, also sets this technology apart.

ARKTOS Craft enhances operations in the Arctic in all ice conditions, weather and shallow water, deep mud, or unknown water depths for; ship to ship or ship to shore duties, logistic support at Arctic ports, surveillance/investigations, search and rescue, scientific research, mapping/charting, disaster response (flooding, hurricanes, earthquakes), oil spill response as well as a secondary lifeboat that can operate in all ice conditions for ships operating in the Arctic.

There are two production models (sizes):

  • 32 tonne ARKTOS Craft (USCG Approved).
  • 45 tonne ARKTOS Craft (Transport Canada Approved).

ARKTOS Craft (AT-90) in Development:

Our company has been developing a smaller air transportable size of amphibious ARKTOS AT-90 that can be transported by a C-130 aircraft, deployable by a 20-tonne crane and air lifted by a Chinook Helicopter (1/2 craft per lift) for flexibility in deploying quickly for Arctic Operations and disaster struck areas. Besides the Royal Canadian Navy, Royal Canadian Army and Canadian Coast Guard, other military and coast guards operating in the Arctic including, but not limited to, USA, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden are potential markets.

Self-righting ARKTOS Craft in Development:

Initially designed for Offshore oil platforms that are further from shore, this larger size has the capacity for 100 people (IMO Standards).  A 1/5th scale model has been tested and has proven its self-righting capability.

2. Amphibious Barges:

  • 5-tonne capacity amphibious wheeled barge

      Amphibious Barges in Development:

  • 16-tonne capacity amphibious skid barge
  • 7-tonne capacity amphibious wheeled and skid barge
  • 16-tonne capacity amphibious wheeled and skid barge

Leasing:

Our company has an ARKTOS Craft available for lease (with operator) to support response to an emergency, removal of derelict boats, and many other duties that are required in amphibious or tidal/transition zone areas.
