About Open Ocean Robotics
Open Ocean Robotics offers better ways of seeing our oceans. We empower organizations through safer, more affordable, and sustainable coastal and open ocean oceanographic and maritime data collection, enhancing marine resource understanding and preservation for a sustainable future. DataXplorer™ is our solar-powered uncrewed surface vehicle (USV) with innovative patented technologies, offering persistent, emission-free ocean data acquisition in extreme sea states. By harnessing the power of solar energy, DataXplorer™ operates efficiently, making it ideal for a wide spectrum of marine applications. Complementing DataXplorer™ is XplorerView™, our cloud-based data management, and USV control system. Together, they offer an integrated approach, providing real-time data acquisition and AI-driven analytics. This transformative approach to ocean exploration and protection solidifies Open Ocean Robotics' role as a trusted partner in marine advancement, contributing to the sustainable future of our oceans.
Products & Services
DataXplorerTM is a patented solar powered ocean drone, also called an “uncrewed surface vehicle” (USV). It provides a safe, affordable, sustainable, and scalable ocean monitoring solution. Powered by the sun, it can travel on the ocean for months at a time collecting ocean and environmental data using its suite of sensors. DataXplorerTM is designed to endure all sea states and is self righting. Top speed with the standard motor is six knots. Despite having powerful capabilities, this USV is remarkably light and portable, weighing just over 100 kg.
Our services in ocean data collection and analytics using proprietary robotic and software platforms allows easier, affordable, sustainable and safer ocean monitoring. It overcomes the cost and difficulty of crewed ships, and offers monitoring in areas otherwise inaccessible.
Our USV is self-righting and heavily ruggedized for extreme sea states and prolonged continuous use, and can be used in both coastal and offshore environments. Its power- efficient design makes optimal use of harvested solar energy, while its modular sensor payload bay enables a range of oceanographic and environmental monitoring. It produces zero-emissions, has no risk of oil spills and no noise pollution.
