Ping DSP Inc is a sonar technology company located in North Saanich and is well known for inventing and developing the 3DSS™  3D imaging and mapping sonar.  The 3DSS™ provides accurate ultra-wide swath bathymetry in combination with high resolution three dimensional sidescan imagery and enhanced 2D sidescan imagery.  The versatility and data quality of the 3DSS™, together with its compact size and ease-of-use, make it ideal for a wide range of subsea applications that include: shallow water hydrography, dredging, engineering surveys, habitat mapping, riverbed change detection, rapid assessment for obstructions and hazards, port and harbour security, tailings pond surveys, mine counter measures, reservoir and subsea structure mapping and imaging, maritime archaeology, erosion and scour assessment, search and recovery, pipe and cable tracking, ice profiling, fisheries, and many more.
